Why is the sky blue?

The sky appears blue due to a phenomenon called Rayleigh scattering. Sunlight is made up of different colors, each with a different wavelength. When sunlight enters Earth's atmosphere, it interacts with air molecules, scattering the shorter-wavelength blue light more than the longer-wavelength red light. This scattered blue light reaches our eyes, making the sky look blue.
